CARTOGRAFÍA DE LO (IN)VISIBLE
Cartography of the (In)Visible
This palace is the work of the gods, was my first thought.
I explored the uninhabited spaces, and I corrected myself:
The gods that built this place have died.
Then I reflected upon its peculiarities, and told myself:
The gods that built this place were mad.
— Jorge Luis Borges
Facing a landscape implies stopping to observe all its dimensions: its matter, its boundaries, its trajectory, its arrival, its laughter, its tears, its sound and its movement. It is true that one gives meaning to space, however, space also gives meaning to itself, so we are faced with an action of constant redefinition, in which its edges are always in motion and its categories are constantly changing their content.
Each of the pieces that make up this exhibition/cartography serve the function of creating nostalgic devices of reverie or interpellation. Some works alter the known territory, like symbols that erect new senses, the art of turning stone into dream vapor[1]; others fulfill the function of pointing out the peculiarities of the spaces that contain them. The artist's gaze always rests on the horizon and their hands extract from within the elements with which they modify and transgress the landscape.
With this exhibition we propose a sensorial approach to the forms that detonate readings, a review of the everyday surfaces that are superimposed and altered, and an invitation to build the temples and tombs of the space we inhabit.
