Andrea Monroy Palacios: Tríptico

Tríptico: Entre seres, estrellas y un río de flores (Triptych: among beings, stars, and a river of flowers) is the most recent exhibition by Andrea Monroy Palacios. Encompassing the exhibition halls of the Antiguo Edificio de Correos, Casa Ibargüen, and Imprenta Sánchez & De Guise, Andrea presents a collection of histories, as told by the different beings within them. “Presences—as Andrea calls them—that embody and materialize some of the experiences that make up her life experience; these appear as characters whose main purpose is to reaffirm themselves as narrative devices, but, at the same time, establish themselves as tools that promote the act of remembering and dialoguing.” (José Daniel Picado-García)

In Tríptico, the anecdote becomes central. The personal becomes collective, and that which previously was only perceptible by the artist becomes visible to all of us sharing in her work.

Tríptico will be open to the public starting Thursday, July 11 in Correos, Casa Ibargüen, and Imprenta Sánchez & De Guise in Guatemala City.
