JOSÉ WOLFF

GUATEMALA CITY, 1975.

After graduating in Digital Art from Savannah College of Art and Design in 1998, he worked producing audiovisuals for MTV Latin America and the cult channel Locomotion in Miami. He later expanded his practice, directing commercials and music videos, working with various tools including video cameras and photography. Among the groups he has produced music videos for are: Miranda, Plastilina Mosh, MNDSGN, Julia Holter, Nite Jewel, Nicholas Krgovich, Cole MGN and Gaby Moreno.

In 2006 he moved to Los Angeles where he remained for 10 years. There he developed an affinity for lo-fi, unusual combinations of digital and analog media, DYI and independent filmmaking. He returns to live in Guatemala in 2017, and from there has participated in solo and group exhibitions in spaces that include Galería Extra, Centro Cultural de España en Guatemala, La Erre, Proyecto Poporopo, Sótano 1, La Construcción, Espacio LEA and Satis.-Factory (Costa Rica).

His work ranges from drawing and painting to traditional and digital animation, documentary video, photography, video art and installation.
